There are some truth to it when the author of the article said BN loses out with the Generation Y voters.
The overall results mask many underlying trends which can only be revealed through a very careful analysis of the votes at the ‘saluran’ levels. And my analysis of voting patterns by saluran from 2008 to 2009 shows a remarkably consistent trend – younger voters, regardless of race, are more likely to vote opposition in the KT by-election.
Judging from my circle, there are many friends of mine who are pro opposition although it is not neccessary for them to be a member of individual parties. That being said, we do have something in common. We are pretty pissed with the government’s flipflop policies. But that is merely my circle. The sentiments of the majority in the younger generation is still unclear to me unless there’s a survey where we can procure vital statistics. Why do BN loses out on the generation Y votes? Is it because a large population of them are Internet savvy than the older generation? But not every one of them are interested in politics. Some love women and some just love to use the internet for entertainment purposes. If the younger generation is what the government is concern about then they have a lot of issues to worry because their numbers are growing.
