Electricity increased by 20% last year and it will only come down by 10% this year?
The government will lower electricity tariffs for households and industry by 7-10 percent by the end of the month, said Energy Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor, according to reports today.
MCPXShaziman said his ministry had been in talks with state energy giant Petronas over a reduction, which due to falling oil prices will be implemented earlier than the original plan of mid-2009.
How generous of them. When they were asked why they did not reduce the electricity tariff as the petrol price fell dramatically last year, they gave all kinds of excuse. But do you remember, when they made the decision to increase the tariff, the main reason they gave was the high petrol price? And you can see how they conveniently overlooked this matter when the price of the petrol remained low for quite some time. In Malaysia, everything also can!
